Rise
Rise like a flame, extinguishing what needs to be left behind and soar triumphantly into your light!
According to legend, only one Phoenix lives at a time. A mythical bird, they are famous for rising from their own ashes on a funeral pyre hence symbolizing resurrection.
My Phoenix tail tore during its creation, but I chose to leave it "as is" for good reason. Cracks are where the light enters. Cracks are our own frailties that make us who we are and at any time we have free will to quench the cracks into personal victories. My process is the same for all my pieces. Ideas begin in the margins of my morning writing journal then I move to my sketchbook for a more detailed drawing. Afterward, I move to my collection of hand painted collage paper bins and select which papers I feel best represent the theme through color. All my papers are ripped by hand, or I use my Exacto knives for a clean edge.
