Connected

We grew in different gardens,
roots cultivated from
separate rock and ground.
Yet our human connections
weave a diverse tapestry
of unity and harmony
as we flourish
into one beautiful world.

This piece was inspired by the Big Tree near Goose Island State Park in Rockport, Tx. My process is the same for all my pieces. Ideas begin in the margins of my morning writing journal then I move to my sketchbook for a more detailed drawing. Afterward, I move to my collection of hand painted collage paper bins and select which papers I feel best represent the theme through color. All my papers are ripped by hand, or I use my Exacto knives for a clean edge.
