Evening at Adirondack Lake
Div. V-E, Honorable Mention, Oil/Acrylic
This painting depicts a tranquil scene of Adirondack Lake at sunset. It is an impressionist take rather than a realistic depiction. The lake is light blue, and the sky is predominantly fiery orange with a tinge of blue and yellow. Drama is created by the dark and yellow clouds crowding the sky in the fading light of the setting sun over the dark hills in the background. The only sound is the gentle lapping of the waves as depicted by the tufts of water plants sticking out in silhouette in the central part of the painting capturing the tranquility of the scene. The intensity of colors in the painting is muted and atmospheric, and the overall effect is one of peace and serenity.
